What We Test

A Complete Audit.
Not a Checklist.

We use professional diagnostic equipment to test your home as a system — because that's what it is. Every component affects the others.

See All Services →
01
Blower Door Test

We depressurize your home and measure air leakage with precision. Combined with thermal imaging, we pinpoint exactly where energy is escaping.

02
Duct Blaster Test

Many SE Michigan homes lose 20–30% of conditioned air through leaky ducts before it reaches a room. We measure exactly how much is being wasted.

03
CAZ Testing

Combustion appliance zone testing checks furnaces, water heaters, and boilers for carbon monoxide, backdrafting, and unsafe draft pressure.

04
Thermal Imaging

Our infrared cameras reveal missing insulation, air bypasses, and moisture problems that are invisible to the naked eye.

05
Appliance Assessment

We document the age, condition, and efficiency of your major systems — furnace, A/C, water heater — and factor them into your recommendations.

06
Audit Report

A clear written report with findings, prioritized recommendations, estimated savings, and applicable rebates. Plain language. No pressure.

Independent.
Certified.
Honest.

We don't install insulation. We don't sell furnaces. We audit homes. That independence is what makes our recommendations trustworthy — when we hand you a report, the only thing driving it is what the data says.

Think of us like a doctor who isn't also selling the medication.

What Clients Say

Real Reviews.

"

The audit found exactly why our back bedroom was always cold. Turned out to be a major duct leak nobody had ever caught. Worth every dollar.

The reports from Precision Energy Insights are the best I've seen in this industry — thorough, clearly written, and formatted perfectly for program submissions. On top of that, they're just genuinely easy to work with. My crews and clients both love having them on the job.

Common Questions

Your Energy Questions, Answered.

A home energy audit is a diagnostic assessment of how your home uses and loses energy. Using professional equipment like a blower door and infrared camera, we find where air is leaking, where insulation is missing, and whether your appliances are safe — then give you a clear report with prioritized recommendations.
No. We perform private-pay audits for any homeowner who wants an honest assessment, regardless of any program. Many clients just want to know why their bills are high, why certain rooms are uncomfortable, or what to prioritize before a renovation.
Most audits take 2–3 hours depending on home size. We run all diagnostic tests, then walk you through our thermal imaging findings and explain the report before we leave.
A home inspection evaluates structural condition — roof, foundation, electrical, plumbing. An energy audit evaluates how the home performs as an energy and comfort system, using diagnostic equipment to find things a visual inspection can't catch.
We're happy to share referrals to contractors we trust in SE Michigan. We can also be available to your chosen contractor if they have questions about our findings. We don't push you to hire anyone specific.
Clear access to your attic hatch, crawl space, and mechanical room. Have recent utility bills available if you have them. Close all windows and doors a few hours before we arrive. Plan to be home — the walkthrough at the end is where you'll get the most value.
